Should I get an opener with a battery backup feature?
This feature is especially useful if power outages are commonplace in your area. This will allow you to keep using your door manually when the electricity cuts out for some reason, which can be incredibly useful, especially during emergencies. Not every opener can be integrated with a backup battery, so if you're planning on upgrading your motor unit, make sure it has that option.
Why don't garage doors function as well in the winter?
The reason for this is that mechanical garage door parts react to the cold and if they are not lubricated properly they will be noisier, won't move as smoothly may even break down. The bottom of the door can also stick to the ground if you don't make sure to remove any water residues in time.
Do garage doors come in custom fits?
Yes. There are residential garage door models available in different sizes; some are even customizable to fit a custom built garage. For instance, there are doors with widths ranging between 6'' to 12'' in two inches increments. The height can also be varied, and it can range from 6'6" to 12 feet. How much does a new garage door cost?
The price of a new garage door can vary greatly depending on various factors. Everything plays a part here, from panel material to R-value to brand and whether or not you're also getting an opener or not. It's important that you don't just go for the cheapest or the most expensive door, but rather that you find a model that can fit your specific needs. Our experts will be happy to consult you on this.
